Tired of Politics?

Tired of politics?  Tired of the lies, dirty tricks, and double talkout of our elected officials?  Me too.  I’ve heard TV pundits tell how they believe politics has sunk to a new low.  I agree, or I did agree until I ran across the following anecdote:  For example, in 1946 Joseph Russo, a popular Boston city councilman, decided to run for the US congress.  His only opponent was a WWII veteran named John F. Kennedy. At the last minute another candidate appeared on the ballot, a second Joseph Russo and a family friend of the Kennedy’s.  It was rumored JFK’s father paid the second Joseph Russo to run to confuse the voters.  It worked.  The votes for Russo were split and JFK won by a landslide.  Hm!  Dirty politics?  One small incident that changed US history.  How many other under-the-table deals, on both sides of the political spectrum have occurred?  Only time and eternity will tell.

After complaining about the ditzy politics going on at my place of employment, a wise friend of mine once said, “Put three people together and you get politics.”  And he’s right.  Whether it be teenage girls or guys on the playing field, they will jockey for power and control.  Henry Kissinger said, “Power is the greatest aphrodisiac.” KInd of fits the essence of a sign I saw along the road today.  “When the power of love is greater than the love of power, the world will be at peace.”

Makes ya’ kinda’ wanna’ live in such a place, doesn’t it? If you want to learn more about life in this mystical land, read Revelation 7:14-17.
