New Year Resolution!

When asked what New Year’s resolution I was making, I admitted that I had none.  I know me–as a creature of the moment, after 2 days I’ve forgotten my best intentions.   But I’ve changed my mind.  I have decided to make one resolution for 2013.  I plan to recycle my smiles.  Too often I get so busy with trivia that the joy God places in my heart fails to register on my face.  This year, I plan to reflect that joy by recycling my smiles again and again until my heart runs out of this precious commodity.

The aisles in my grocery store or at WalMart seems like a great place to recycle a smile or two at all those grumpy looking shoppers.  Drop one in the produce aisle; another in housewares; and a third in electronics, and who knows?  Maybe I can start a trend of recycling smiles that will cut down on the abundant pollution of resentment and irritation.  It’s worth a try.  Psalm 4:7 NIV says, “You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound.”
