NYC Tragedy

Whether it be in NY or MO, I love how Americans pull together in the face of tragedy.  Oh, yeah, there are always a few low-life around who loot or gouge their neighbors, but on the whole most people help other people.

My husband Richard grew up in Brooklyn.  As a boy he would pay a nickel to ride the ferry across to Staten Island and spend the day riding his bike up and down the green hills.  It was a taste of country for him.  Viewing the devastation on TV where stately homes once stood brought sadness to his heart.  Of course, we had to donate to the Red Cross.  It goes without saying.  Not only is helping others our commission through Jesus Christ, but anyone who’s lived long enough knows his turn will come.  (We live in CA, the land of earthquakes.) A different take on Hebrews 4:16 KJV might be, “Let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”  God fills the hearts of His kids with grace, the grace to be His hands and feet, and yes, wallet, in time of need.  Is your heart full of enough of His grace today?
