Seasons of Change

“Sunrise, sunset, quickly flow the years…” as the lyrics to the song from Fiddler on the Roof goes.  The wise King Solomon wrote, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born and a time to die… a time to weep and a time to laugh…a time to rend and a time to sew… a time of war and a time of peace.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 KJV.  How fast the years have passed!  The only constant has been the  goodness of God in my life.  Even during the days when I had lost the will to go on, God gathered me into His arms and carried me through.

Mentally reviewing 2011 from the world’s perspective, it’s has been a year illustrating each of the “times” exemplified in the words of King Solomon.  But for the Rizzo household, it has been season of comfort and peace.  Yet, with maturity comes the realization that I live in a world of change.  If I am momentarily resting in a season of peace, I must draw closer to Jesus for this season won’t last forever.  If on the other hand I am awash in troubles, whirled about in the midst of a storm, I can hold on to Jesus knowing this season won’t last forever either.

I don’t know in what season you find yourself on the eve of 2012, but either way, fair weather or foul; troubles or triumphs; despair or dancing, the moment won’t last forever.  So take heart, regardless of the season in our lives, our Divine Lover never changes.   He’s always as close as a prayer.  In Matthew 28:20 KJV Jesus promises, “Lo, I am with you always, even onto the ends of the earth.”
