Time X Infinity

I love watches–all sizes and shapes.  I feel compelled to check the time wherever I happen to be at any given moment.  I am a time-controlled creature.  Maybe that’s why I like and understand Ecclesiastes 3 so well.  “There is a time for everything.”  Yet,  beyond seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years, my mind can’t compute.

Last march when I on a speaking tour of Australia, I talked via Skype with my ten-year-old grandson Alec who was in California.  The fact that Grandpa and I were living in a totally different day baffled him.   “How can that happen?” he asked.  Beyond the official explanation of a spinning world, time zones and International Datelines, I haven’t a clue either.

But God’s time is time X Infinity!  And while I can almost imagine living forever in eternity, never running out of new and exciting discoveries to make (The key word is almost.),  backwards?  Forever?  No matter how many septillion, quadrillions of years that may have passed, God was.  That concept is beyond my mental grasp.  He knew that when He created me.  Thats why He told me “I am,” today, yesterday, and tomorrow  He always lives in the present tense– now!   And that’s precisely where He wants His kids to live–in the present-today–this the moment of time and eternity!  Yesterday’s gone and tomorrow (on this earth) may never come.  This is my moment to just be with my Father.  Pretty neat, huh?

Psalm 118:24 NIV says, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!”  Yeah!  I can do that, at least for now, right?
