Poison Pen Letters

When I was in the seventh grade, my mother found a love note I’d written to Earl.  She made me read it aloud to her–mortification! When I finished, she gave me a piece of wise advice.  “Never write anything you wouldn’t want published in your town newspaper.”  Mama had no idea how valuable her words would become to me, a future author.

Sometimes the ease with which I blog, tweet, twitter, e-mail or facebook my friends, I can forget the power I have at my fingertips.  Every electronic word I share with another is recorded either is some government computer somewhere or in God’s Eternal Computer.  That realization is enough to consider the content of my tweets!

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptible in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14

The Message paraphrase says it like this:  “These are the words of my mouth; these are what I chew on and pray.  Accept them when I place them on the morning altar, O God, my Altar-Rock; God, Priest of my Altar.”
