Joy without the Almonds

Happy, sad, good, bad is all the same when I welcome the Holy Spirit into my heart.  No matter how nutty my life may feel I have a deep abiding joy, despite the almonds life puts in my way.  (Of course, I love almonds, in or separate of an Almond Joy.)  The end result is an unadulterated joy regardless of the circumstances.  To carry this analogy to the ridiculi (That’s ridiculous to the extreme.), almonds are very good for me.

Eating almonds help lower the bad cholesterol clogging my arteries.   Perhaps the nuttier days in my life, those moments I’d choose to skip over or leap beyond minus the pain, serve a similar purpose.  Perhaps they help unclog the bad stuff in my soul that keeps my spiritual lifeblood flowing smoothly.

James wrote, “Consider it pure joy when you face trials…testing of your faith develops perseverance.” (NIV)  So “bring on life’s almonds, Lord.  I crave Your abundant joy, with or without the almonds.”
